Black Friday is the busiest selling day of the year, with online revenue numbers rising year over year (2020 was the exception, as 2021 couldn’t quite break the record made during Covid). The special day has become such a big money maker that shoppers are planning as early as September.
Insurance is not your typical retail business, so how can agents prepare for Black Friday?
Whether you are offering specials or not, keep in mind that more people are ready to spend at this time of year. Getting in front of your clients, even corporate clients is beneficial. You are catching them during budgeting season, so your quote will be welcomed and you have a better chance of success than if you present numbers during the slump of December, or after the New Year.
This is a good time to send out details to leads and make meetings with current clients.

Of course, all retail clients are getting ready for the rush. With that in mind, there are probably some temp employees and definitely more risks in stores, factories, and warehouses. Even technology employees need coverage and there are possibly more of them at this time of year. Reach out to your clients and make sure they are 100% covered during the season.

If your clients expect more customers than normal at any time during the holiday season, you could lend a hand during the planning phase.
According to OSHA, planning, training, and communication with local emergency services are extremely important. “Provide legible and visible signs that describe entrance and exit locations, store opening times, and other important information such as the location of major sale items and restrooms.” (OSHA)
